Join us for a natter with northern creatives and the people behind the places that drive the creative community.
Meet Lucy! Co-owner of Still, and the eye behind Vita, the ever-changing corner of the café where fresh stems are handpicked, gathered, and transformed into seasonal bunches and wreaths. Whether she’s building something beautiful from behind the bar or piecing together petals, everything she curates feels like a love letter to small joys and good company. Vintage treasure hunts, shared plates with friends, and quiet moments at home with Burger & Pip (special mention!) - this is a life lived with care and intention that inspires beautiful curations, one bouquet at a time. You can find Vita inside Still cafe bar in Hull.
Hi Lucy!
How would you explain what you do day-to-day?
On the daily it changes but in general I think what we’ve aimed to do is create the space we’d like to visit ourselves in our spare time.
We offer good quality products in a calm setting with curated playlists to suit the seasons and events at Still.
What inspired you to start Vita?
I love physically putting something together from scratch.
I love flowers; I think how a beautiful bouquet of flowers can transform a space is amazing! Being able to offer that in Still, from choosing the stems and piecing them together, brings me a lot of joy.

“I think coffee, natural wine and flowers under one roof is something I wouldn’t be able to resist myself.”
Describe Still in three words:
Creative. Sociable. Unique.
Or...Luke. Lucy. Pip

What do you like to do to when you’re not busy at Still?
I love anything antique/vintage related, from fairs to antique centres, vintage shops, warehouses, the hunt for your new favourite thing... it never ends!
I also love meeting and eating with friends and I just love when we’re at home with Burger & Pip.
“I love gardening, visiting beautiful gardens and buildings whether it’s a stately home or a gallery.”
What is your favourite thing about the space you have created at Still?
I love the simple aesthetic of the space that we’ve both put together from scratch. There’s little nods in each corner of our own personalities.
We’ve seen some of our regulars become good friends from visiting Still. Being in an intimate setting where everyone can join a conversation and have a laugh together is special.
“The way likeminded people gather together at Still is really rewarding.”

Is there anything coming up that we should know about?
Nothing in cement but just whatever we’re inspired by. On our travels when we see something we love or taste something brilliant…we’ll always bring our own version back to Hull. We’ll forever be switching things up at Still as we go along.
Who would you like to nominate for us to have a natter with?
Alex at Studio Kettle.
Rosie at Rosie Woods Photography.
Sarah from Marla’s.
Cheers, Lucy! Thanks for the natter.
